Every Friday, I will be listing 5 of my favorite products and/or brands that I use and discussing their pros and cons in a series called Fav Five Friday. Let me know if you have tried the products before and what your personal experience has been with them. If you purchase from the Amazon links I may receive a small compensation.
AEVI Face Serum & Face Oil have helped keep my face hydrated and soft - especially during these cold winter months. Sometimes I can be lazy with my skincare routine, and my face will get really dry. Adding AEVI Face Serum & Oil to my daily routine has been easy and has proven to eliminate my dry patches and has even helped calm my rosacea flare-ups. I use the serum twice a day and the oil once a day at night. This brand is still new and can't be found on Amazon, so if you want to try their products, you'll need to order directly through their website. They started out with hand sanitizers (I keep the 2oz one in my car!) and have now introduced more skin care items, including hand & body wash, hand & body lotion, face oil, face serum, and an all-over balm. As someone who has sensitive skin, I find the scent is pleasant and not over-powering. I love that the ingredients are pure and Nordic inspired. All AEVI items all are vegan, creutly-free, and have sustainable eco-friendly packaging. The product prices are more on the high-end, so if you are on a budget, this may not be the best option for you.
For full transparency, I did not purchase my AEVI items, they were gifted to me because I know people at the company. I am not getting any compensation for this review or kickbacks for any purchases made from the links. I genuinely love these products.
PROS:
Great for sensitive skin!
Face Serum is unscented and plumps, strengthens, hydrates and smooths
Face Oil has a light, pleasant scent and is replenishing and calming
Pure, sustainable, creulty-free, vegan, Nordic-inspired
Eco-friendly packaging
CONS:
Price point may be too high for some folks
I'll admit that I first saw this product on Tiktok and decided to try it. I only use it when I wear make-up and apply it with my foundation. I love how silky and dewy it makes my face feel. I don't think I see much of a difference in appearance of my face once it has been applied, but it's supposed to give you a dewy look. It is supposed to help even out skin tone, work as a hyperpigmentation treatment, and reduce dark spots, but I haven't noticed any of those changes. It is possible that I don't wear it enough, because I don't wear make up daily. It is light and I love how it feels on my skin, so I will continue using it. I also love the subtle watermelon scent. Have you used this every day and seen good results? Let me know!
PROS:
Feels great on skin
Not too heavy
Delicious scent!
Helps minimize pores
CONS:
Can be pricey if you're on a budget
Haven't seen promised results - but I also don't use it daily
Speaking of make-up, let's talk about my favorite liquid foundation! I discovered this foundation when I went to a beauty store (it was either Ulta or Sephora) and one of the salesgirls helped me find my correct shade. I hate shopping for foundations online because I can never tell what shade I am, and I don't like having to spend $50+ just to find out if I bought the correct color or not. I was looking for a medium coverage liquid foundation and loved the feel and coverage of this one. Unless one day I become rich and famous and have a team of make-up artists, I will never be one of those folks who contours or bronzes and literally paints their face for stunning results. I just don't have the patience, but I am in awe and impressed of those who are able to do so. I need something simple that I can slap on that will help even-out my skin tone, reduce my freckles and any blemishes and still look natural. Since I don't wear make-up daily, my foundation lasts a long time and I will be sad if they ever discontinue it. I wear shade 14 Sand.
PROS:
Medium coverage that can be built to full coverage
Doesn't feel heavy or look cakey
Oragnic, Vegan and Creulty-free
Looks natural and lasts all day
11 shades to choose from
CONS:
Some folks may think it is too watery
Can be pricey, depending where you purchase
If you have any common or stubborn skin conditions, I highly recommend this wonder balm. It is formulated with anti-fungal, anti-microbial, and anti-septic ingredients that are great for combating foot, body and facial skin conditions. It can help soothe dry, cracked and inflamed skin. Anyone with a large chest knows that sometimes you can get a painful rash under your ladies, and this balm has lived up to its name. It does contain essential oils (Tea Tree Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, Lavener Oil etc) which can be toxic to animals, so if you have a pet, then you just have to make sure to keep this balm out of reach and wash your hands after touching the balm. The only thing I don't love about this balm is the scent, which can be a bit overpowering.
PROS:
Fast acting results
Helps calm irritated skin
Doesn't hurt to apply on painful skin
Anti-fungal, anti-micobial, anti-septic
Combats skin infections caused by fungus, bacteria and yeast
CONS:
Scent is strong and not my favorite
Can be pricey if you're on a budget
In my quest to keep my face hydrated, I tried this night cream and I haven't looked back. It is one of my favorite moisturizers. Not only do I love the hydrating results after a night of sleep, I adore the wild rose scent. I have used mine all up and actually need to order more. All of Korres products are made in Greece and the ingredients are sourced ethically. Their eco-friendly manufacturing and recyclable packaging makes me love them even more.
PROS:
Love the scent
Moisturizes skin during the night
Recyclable packaging and eco-friendly manufacturing
CONS:
Can be pricey
